Whoever coined the phrase “blood is thicker than water” probably wasn’t thinking about chemistry. But in any case, researchers are now reporting a strategy for making titanium surfaces that repel blood. At this stage, the material is only a laboratory experiment. If future testing pans out, the technology might make its way into medical implants.
